Texas Bluebonnets

 

Idyllic, beautiful, and quite a floral trademark: bluebonnets are loved by Texans, but are appreciated and adored by many. Recently my husband spotted a field (not on the side of the highway!) not too far from home. And since his mother was visiting from New Jersey and mentioned wanting some pics with the kiddos in the bluebonnets, it was just the right time for a photo shoot!

 

 

We were the only ones in this particular field one afternoon, which gave the kids a great chance to run and play in the vast expanse of these bright spring bloomers.

 

They had a blast, and I think we got some keepers, especially the lovely ones with Grandma Ruth.

 

 

 

 

 

I love to watch the kids together; they are so sweet and affectionate most of the time. I love that they make each other laugh so much!

 

What a fun, fun afternoon.

 

 

We love bubbles around here! Last week we had such beautiful days (it got up to 84!), so the kiddos, George’s mom and I made our way down to “swing-slide-swing” as the kids call it. I planted some plants while the kids played pirates on the slides and “ship”.

 

 

George's mom Ruth was playing "guess the letter" as she drew a letter on Finley's back. And Grey noticed some small planes flying above.

 

 

Then it was time for bubbles. There were some empty bubbles and wands, and a large container about ¼ full of bubbles, and a battery-operated bubble wand that you dip in a dish filled with bubbles. I wasn’t even sure if the little wand would work; it hadn’t been touched for months. But alas, it had power, and we put it to good use.

 

 

 

 

Grey made some gigantic bubbles. We were amazed as was he. It was lovely. They even managed to take turns. Ha! Fin made bubble magic too.

 

 

Of course they wanted to stay out and make bubbles all day!

 

 

 

 

We had a fun morning of discovering what the Easter bunny had left. The kids were so excited to see Peeps again! And hunting eggs in the house is always a good time.

 

 

 

We made it to church and sat in the very back row with lots of other people. And the kiddos did great sitting in church for 1 ½ hours; the music was really great too – they performed Handel’s Messiah and had a string section. Finley really liked singing “Hallelujah!”

   

After church we met up with our little friends Gentry and Sullivanne for some fun and funny photos near the church.

We got home a little late, and Nana (my mommy), Uncle Freddy (my brother), Aunt Sharon and our cousins Gracie, Penelope and Wyatt were waiting to have fun with us!

We ate a yummy lunch before hunting eggs. The kids got to eat at the kids’ table. I love seeing them all together, giggling and having fun. Of course I just noticed that a dinosaur puppet was also enjoying lunch at the kids’ table . . . like ya do.

 

I was adventurous and made Grandmother Mecca’s (George’s grandmother) Italian Easter Pie with sausage, prosciutto and mozzarella. The kiddos had some fun little chick cheese sandwiches. I also made George’s mom’s peanut butter chocolate eggs.

 

Of course we could have hunted eggs again and again! Later we blew bubbles; it was such a glorious day.

Ah yes, and Nana brought confetti eggs, cascarones, which were a huge hit! Grey has a crazy, “Nuke” Laloosh (“Bull Durham”) pitching style as he throws the eggs around, but we all loved the confetti!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Smiles and good memories all around - I sure love my family! We are a blessed bunch.
