Singing

More music thoughts: We love music around here, and the kids like to play and march around the house. Grey often wants to take his drumsticks to bed. I think we will definitely have a music theme for their second birthday with marching and batons and hoopla (looked it up; it's actually a word) for everyone.

What I really love is when Grey or Fin start singing a song on their own. Favorites around here are the Alphabet song; Ring Around the Rosy(ie); Itsy Bitsy Spider; and of course Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, complete with hand gestures. Of course Finley sings it as "Twankle, twankle, little star!" Love my little southern darlin.

I'm posting some shots of younger Fin and Grey playing their harmonicas. They love to be like Daddy.

Here's hoping you have a musically fun day!

Playing in the dirt

As a mom I have loved, as I imagine most moms do, discovering what my children enjoy. I have found that my kids love dirt. Surprise. They love playing in the backyard on the slide and swings, but especially digging in the dirt. We even find "treasure" in our backyard; discarded snail shells and acorns that we sometimes save in a bucket or carry around until we find something more interesting.

Today was a cold day, and we didn't find much treasure, but these pictures are from a couple of weeks ago when we found a lot. "Arrgh . . .treasure," as Finley sometimes says.

Something You Might Not Know About Me

I love 70s music. There. I've said it. Some people know this. Please don't take me off your blogroll for this. I do enjoy other music, I just LOVE music from the 70s. I really started loving music in the 70s and would dance with my friends at school (you Butler Elementary girls remember this in Mrs. England's PE room) and put on shows in the garage. So, if I want to feel happy or need a good dance, I put it on my local 70s station (88.5) or the 70s cable tv station. It works! Happy, happy, joy, joy. Next to bubbles, this is great therapy!

And my kids love music too. Most kids do. Luckily they don't mind if I listen to music and dance. They love to dance. I feel this is the way I am able to enjoy my 70s music (and more!) and dance around and not be embarrased. Ha! However, it usually leads to marching (one of Grey's favorite words) around the house endlessly.

Enjoy your day. Hope you have some music (even if it is from some other decade) in your life.

Rainy, thoughtful day.

Hello,
Having a blog is a brand new thing for me. I wanted a place to share photos and inspiration and find some as well. Today is a rainy day, so I felt like sharing my photo of the gondolas in Venice. I took that one on my trip with my good friend Melissa in 2007. Seems like yesterday though; walking through the squares, climbing little bridges, and learning one of my favorite cities. Lots of gelato and wine helped too!
Hope you have a wonderful day.
Love and joy,
Stacey
